1999

Started Racing Go Karts at the age of 14. Brett ran indoors for his first year of karting, picking up 2 feature wins and 3 heat race wins

2000

Brett raced JR2 Alcohol Briggs at Poplar Grove Speedway in Kamrar, Iowa.  Picking up many top 3's and a second place in track points

2001

Brett moved up to Adult Briggs.  Brett picked up over 10 feature wins during the year between the Newton Kart Klub, Poplar Grove Speedway in Kamrar and Cottonwood Speedway in Parkersburg.  Brett was the 2001 Season Point Champion in the Adult Briggs class.

2002

Raced Adult Briggs again, picking up over 15 feature wins and another track championship at Cottonwood Speedway.

2003

Raced a kart fielded by Gustin Racing on and off picking up a few wins.

2004

Brett moved into the B-Modified division at the Hamilton County Speedway, picking up one top 5 in his first year behind the wheel of a modified

2005

Continued racing in the B-Modified division, picking up many top 5's, one feature win, 3 heat race wins throughout the year.

2006

Moved into the IMCA Sportmod division.  Brett picked up 10 feature wins between 2 tracks, placed 3rd at the IMCA Harris Clash, 5th at the IMCA Supernationals and 2nd in National Rookie points, and 6th in overall National IMCA Points.  Brett picked up the Cliff Chambers Memorial feature win along with the Larry Wollam Memorial feature.  Brett also ran 3rd at the season ending Shiverfest race in Donnelson, Iowa.

2007

Brett moved into the IMCA A-Mod Division for 2007.  Brett picked up 2 feature wins throughout the year, 6 heat race wins, another 3rd place finish at the IMCA Harris Clash ahead of the 2006 IMCA Supernationals Champion Rich Lewerke.
