Born on August 6th, 1985, the next racer in the Chambers family
was introduced into the world.
Brett has attended races his whole life,
starting before he was born.
Having a rich family history in racing was a key
factor in knowing Brett would someday be in a race car.
Cliff Chambers, the late grandfather of Brett
Ladehoff, was a key person to the racing community in Central Iowa for
many years.
Cliff promoted the Marshalltown Speedway, along
with flagging at various other race tracks around the state.
Cliff lost his battle with cancer in 1989, and
thus from that day on the Marshalltown Speedway has held a memorial race
every year in his memory.
Starting in 1993, Brett's uncle Rob Chambers
and crew chief Ken Williams started racing Bombers.
Unfortunately, the year didn't go as planned,
Kenny rolled the car a couple times and Rob didn't fare too well.
In 1996 Rob picked up his first track
championship.
Rob moved into the IMCA Modifieds in 2000 and
quickly retired in 2003.
Rob was never able to win his father's memorial
race, but in 2006 he witnessed his nephew win it in his first try.
For over 16 years, it has been Brett's dream
to win his grandfather's memorial race, and he did just that in 2006.
Brett placed 5th in the 2007 Memorial Race after
leading the first 5 laps.
Brett's future plans are to move into the Late
Model division after he has gotten a handle in the IMCA Modified class.
In 2008, Brett plans on running weekly at the
Marshalltown Speedway on Friday nights, and using Saturdays as a pick
day to race between the Independence Motor Speedway, Hamilton County
Speedway and the Boone Speedway.
Brett will tackle his first USMTS race this year
as the USMTS Series comes to the Independence Motor Speedway and the
Marshalltown Speedway.
